I have one basic doubt in finding the noun in the below sentence, can anybody please help me what are the nouns in this sentence below

" Keli's ambition is to win the state lottery"

Best Regards,
Subrat
I think you meant SUBJECT (doer of the sentence) - AMBITION

There are 2 nouns in the sentence - AMBITION, LOTTERY

Thanks Patanjali,

Just one more question, in my above sentence , is Lottery the only noun or

"to win the state lottery" (Infinitive phrase) is the complete noun.

Best Regards,
Subrat

"to win a state lottery" is a noun phrase acting as a adjective predicate here.

parsing it:

"to win" - infinitive
"a state lottery" - object of the verb in noun form.

Hope this helps !!

TO WIN THE STATE LOTTERY
TO = preposition
WIN = verb
THE = article
STATE = adjective
LOTTERY = noun

start from end:
LOTTERY = noun
STATE LOTTERY = ADJECTIVE + noun = noun phrase
the STATE LOTTERY = article ADJECTIVE + noun = noun phrase

TO WIN = infinitive

[TO WIN] {THE STATE LOTTERY} = [infinitive] {Noun Phrase} = infinitive phrase (called)

Therefore THE STATE LOTTERY is a noun phrase or together they can act as a NOUN in this sentence
