For all numbers x, the operation <> is defined by <x> = x - x/5. If <<w>> = 32, then what is the value of w?
(A) 15
(B) 25
(C) 35
(D) 50
(E) 60

<w> = w - w/5
<<w>> = <w - w/5> = <(5w - w)/5> = <4w/5> = 4w/5 - (4w/5)/5 = 4w/5 - 4w/25 = 16w/25
Since it is given that <<w>> = 32, so 16w/25 = 32 implies w = 50
