Me thinks ans is D as well.

sqrt(x) = y => x = y^2. We need find y^3.

1) x = y^x. We also x = y^2. Hence, x = 2. => y = sqrt(2) => y^3 = 2*sqrt(2).
Hence, SUFFICIENT.

2) x^3 = 8. => x = 2. Hence, y^3 = 2*sqrt(2).
Hence, SUFFICIENT.

Hence D. I am not sure, if I am missing something?
