In the context of a goals essay or personal statement, would I be putting myself at a disadvantage if I revealed that I do not wish to gain employment after business school in a typical high-salary industry that requires excessive time commitments such as consulting or investment banking? I value a reasonable work-life balance and do not see my career as the number one focus of my life. Is this something that could be used advantageously to highlight a niche candidate, or will I be viewed as a candidate who can't handle the rigorous workload of business school?
