Quant "minimum"

by LFalken » Mon Jun 22, 2009 7:05 am
Hello,

I was wondering what type of quant score can start to raise issues for the adcom's for the top 20 schools. Are there any of them that require a certain quant mimumum? like 65% or 75%? or is there a "general rule of thumb" that you should be above for quant for the top 20? Any information or insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello,

The top programs ideally like to see above 80% in both sections. A slightly lower quant score may not raise a problem if there is other evidence in your application of strong quantitative skills -- e.g., good grades in challenging quant courses in undergrad, evidence that you apply quantitative methodologies at work. Your transcript, essays, resume, and recommendations are all areas where you can provide this message.
