Let price of a paint brush = p
Let the roll of tape = t
$$1p+2t=6.25dollar$$
What is the price of one roll tape?

Statement 1
The price of one paintbrush is three times the price of the roll of the tape.
1p = 3t
Therefore, from the question stem,
$$1p+2t=6.25dollar$$
where 1p = 3t Hence,
3t+2t = 6.25
5t = 6.25

$$t=\frac{6.25}{5}=1.25\ dollar\ $$ $$statement 1\ is\ SUFFICIENT.$$

Statement 2
The total cost of 6 rolls of tape and 3 paint brushes is 18.75 dollars
from question stem,
$$1p+2t=6.25\ \ and\ p=6.25-2t$$
substituting this,
$$6t+3\left(6.25-3t\right)=18.75$$ $$6t+18.75-6t=18.75$$ $$6t-6t=18.75-18.75$$ $$0=0$$
The equation gotten from this statement is the same as the one gotten from question stem and this cannot be used to evaluate t hence statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT.

Since Only Statement 1 is SUFFICIENT.

$$\ Option\ A\ is\ correct$$
