The distance between X and Y > X and Z

Does Z lie between X and Y?

Statement #1:

xyz < 0

(2) of the variables are positive and one is negative or all are negative.

Since we don't know which, Insufficient.

Statement #2
xy < 0

X and Y have different signs.

This doesn't tell us anything about Z - Insufficient.

Together:

xyz < 0 and xy < 0

We know z is positive.

But we don't know whether x is positive or negative. If X is positive, then z doesn't lie between X and Y and if X is negative, then Y is positive then Z does lie between X and Y.

I would go with E
