PLEASE, I really need your advice. I need a study opinion...

I can re-word this better. Should I go through the whole Kaplan Premier book first, and then go on to other books...or should I do a section in Kaplan and then immediately go to a different book that specializes in that area. For example, Kaplan Premier critical reasoning to Powerscore CR Bible. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. These are the books I have right now:

1. All OG guides
2. Kaplan Premier 2010-2011
3. MGMAT Number Properties
4. MGMAT Sentence Correction
5. Powerscore CR Bible

I really suggest that you go through different study plans mentioned in BTG. See if any works for you. Or maybe you can tweak them to suit your needs. Only you can decide how you should prepare because only you know what your strengths and weaknesses are.

But just to answer your question above, read the Specialization book first and then jump into Kaplan questions. It is difficult to follow test material from 2 companies because they may offer conflicting methods of approaching the same question.

It's very important that you stick with material from a single company. Methodologies between companies do not mesh well. What I suggest is that you go through one methodology completely, then take a practice test from ManhattanGMAT. The feedback provided is fantastic. Use your performance on the practice test to inform your next steps.

You should focus on and study your weaknesses. When studying your weaknesses, you can now make an informed decision regarding whether to double down with the methodology you have already learned, or switch to a different one.

First and foremost, thank you for the responses....I really appreciate it. It is kind of overwhelming to begin studying for this. I bought a couple of guides from MGMAT, and those come with 6 practice tests. Do those tests have a diagnostic feature of them when you are finished? I just went through the Kaplan CR section, and the CR bible. I have noticed my correct ratio improve in this section since doing this. So Tom, you are thinking do the Kaplan altogether first, take a test, then specialize in weak areas after that? My strategy so far is Kaplan, specialized book, then OG questions.

Hi Jared,

Each student studies differently, and whether you want to focus on specific topics or spread out your work really depends on you. I will say this, however: make sure you're taking CATs regularly. Even if you've decided that this week should be focuses on, say, CR, it's important to at least look at a few math problems (as a full-length test forces you to do) to make sure that you don't forget the skills you learned from last weeks geometry focus.
