Statement 1 :

x can 20 and y can be 30, so xy = 600
x can be 20 and y can be 50, so xy = 1000

Not sufficient

Statement 2:
x can be 20 , y can be 9 , so xy = 180
x can be 2, y can be 180, so xy = 360

Not sufficient

As, discussed above combining them we know that
x*y = hcf*lcm = sufficient

Hence, C
