Remainders

by wingsoffire » Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:28 pm
When x is divided by 3, the remainder is 2 and the quotient is q. When q is divided by 2, the quotient is p and the remainder is 1. Then the remainder when x is divided by 6 is
6
4
3
5
None of these

x = 3q + 2
q = 2p + 1

x = 3(2p + 1) + 2
x = 6p + 5

So x divided by 6 will leave a remainder 5.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
