Hi!
IMO C
(1) p^3(1 - p^2) < 0
p^3(1 - p)(1 + p) < 0 /p^2
We can divide both sides by p^2 because p is not equal to 0
p(1 - p)(1 + p) < 0
-1 < p < 0 or p > 1
Statement (1) ALONE is NOT SUFFICIENT
(2) p^2 - 1 < 0
(p - 1)(p + 1) < 0
-1 < p < 1
Statement (2) ALONE is NOT SUFFICIENT
(1) & (2)
(-1 < p < 0 or p > 1) & (-1 < p < 1)
Therefore, -1 < p < 0
BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient
Hope it helps!
Best,
Maciek
