This can be explained with an example

Consider the number 334.456

The number 4 on the right of the decimal point is considered as the tenth digit and the number 5 on the right of the decimal point is considered to be the hundreth digit and the number 6 on the right of the dec point is the thousandth digit.

Lets take a number for example

456.87

Here 6 is in the units place,5 in the tens place and 4 in the hundreds place
