(1) x < 1
(2) x >-1

OA C

Kindly explain in detail.
I always see if I can reword the question in a simpler way before examining the statements.

We know that, when x does not equal zero, x^2 is always positive and |x| is always positive.
So, x^2/|x| will equal the positive version of x (in other words |x|)

So, the question, "Is x^2/|x| < 1?" can be reworded as "Is |x| < 1?"

With this new question in mind, we can see that (1) and (2) alone are insufficient, and the answer is C
