The two statements are clearly insufficient alone.

Combining I & II


r+s=1

r=1-s

s=1-r

v=1-r = 1-1+s= s
u=1-s = 1-1+r= r

v=s
u=r

Hence C.

why do you say
v=1-r
u=1-s

when it's different in the task?
