Set K consists of a finite number of consecutive odd integers. If x is the smallest number in K and y is the greatest, then y - x =

(1) The average (arithmetic mean) of set K is -36.

(2) There are 8 numbers in set K.

1. only we could know that the number of terms is even.
i.e. .........-37, -35...........(even no.)
insufficient

2. suppose
the series is
n, n+2, n+4......n+14 where n is any odd integer.

that are 8 term
difference =14

hence B is correct

Even I thought C, but ans was B, I did not understand,

Since the question does not say anything on positive and negative numbers,(we get two different answers when we consider -ve odd consecutive and all +ve odd consecutives,) I think the question is wrong in magoosh, or my solution is wrong.

No B is correct I had missed out please check my post above

* in the difference "n" will get cancelled so it is immaterial if its positive or negative
