There are two sets of integers: set X and set Y. An integer x is chosen from set X and an
integer y is chosen from set Y.
What is the probability that the product xy is even?
(1)Set X = {1,3, 5}
(2)Set Y = {2, 4, 6}
(A)Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
(B)Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
(C)BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
(D)EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.
(E)Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data are needed.

Statement 1: No information about set Y.

Not sufficient

Statement 2: As all the integers of set Y are even the product xy will be always even regardless of the value of x.

Sufficient

The correct answer is B.
