(1) n+1>0
(2) np>0

my doubt is, in stmnt1-can we take n=0??
0 is certainly an integer, so from Statement 1 alone, it's certainly possible that n = 0, though that doesn't turn out to be important in the solution - when you consider Statements 1 and 2 together, from Statement 2 we can be certain that n is not equal to zero.

Statement 1 is not sufficient alone, since we don't know a thing about p. From Statement 2 alone, n and p have the same sign, but both could be negative, so this is not sufficient. When we combine the two Statements, we know from Statement 1 that n > -1. From Statement 2, we know that n cannot be zero. And, we know from the stem that n is an integer. So it must be that n > 1, and thus n is positive, and from Statement 2, we can now be certain that p is also positive, so the answer is C.
