A coal company can choose to transport coal to one of its customers by railroad or by truck. If the railroad charges by the mile and the trucking company charges by the ton, which means of transporting the coal would cost less than the other?
(1) The railroad charges $5,000 plus $0.01 per mile per railroad car used, and the trucking company charges $3,000 plus $85 per ton.
(2) The customer to whom the coal is to be sent is 195 miles away from the coal company

Q2

Is ΔMNP isosceles?
(1) Exactly two of the angles, ∠M and ∠N, have the same measure
(2) ∠N and ∠P do not have the same measure.

Q2 Ill do this question first because I like geometry better than arithematic plus its shorter :)

Is triangle MNP isosceles?

1 Exactly two of the angles, ∠M and ∠N, have the same measure
If 2 angles in a triangles are same, the sides opposite to these angles will also be same. Hence MNP is isosceles....SUFF

2. ∠N and ∠P do not have the same measure.
Now we don't know anything about angle M. Angle M could be equal to either N or P or could be different. Hence the triangle could be isosceles or scalene...INSUFF

Answer is A.

Q1 IMO E

To know the individual cost of transferring coal we need to following information:

1. How much coal needs to be transferred.
2. The total distance.
3. The charges for rail and truck.

St1: It gives us only the 3rd information. No information about 1 & 2---INSUFF

St2: It gives us only the 2nd information. No information about 1 & 3.

Combining 1&2
We still don't have any information about 1 ---INSUFF

Answer should be E
