(2) lx- 3l≠ 0

pls explain ... i am having trouble with modules
Is lxl< 1? => Is -1<x<1?

(1) lx + 1l = 2lx - 1l => x is = to 1/3 or 3 [Not sufficient]

(2) lx- 3l≠ 0 => x is not = to 3 [Not sufficient]

Answer is C

For A - how does X = 1/3. If I plug it back into the equation it doesn't work. Or am I missing something?

1/3 + 1 = 4/3 => |4/3| = 4/3

1/3 - 1 = -2/3 => |-2/3| = 2/3 => 2 * 2/3 = 4/3
