xy plane and intercept.

Lines n and p lie in the xy-plane. Is the slope of line n less than the slope of line p ?

(1) Lines n and p intersect at the point (5,1).

(2) The y-intercept of line n is greater than the y-intercept of line p.
let's beat GMAT.

The answer is C.

When you know two points of a certain line, you can calculate the the slope of that line. In this case, we only need to qualitatively decide whether slope of line n is less than the slope of line p.

1. Point (5,1) lies to the right of the y-axis. Both lines contain this point (they intersect at this point).

2. You have an idea of where (relative to each other) the lines intersect on the y-axis.

You can now use both statements to deduce that the slope of line n is less than the slope of line p. Therefore C.
