GMAT PROBLEM??

by dferm » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:04 pm
If x,y, and z are integers greater than 1, what is the value of x+y+z?

(1) xyz = 70
(2) x/yz = 7/10

Please explain...

1) SUFFICIENT xyz = 70 => x*y*z = 2*5*7 As there are only three prime factors of seventy. You know that 2+5+7 = 14

2) INSUFFICIENT x/yz = 7/10 => here we get similar information, x/yz = 7 / 2*5. but this does not lead to unique values of x y z; x = 7,14,21... y = 2, 4, 6... z = 5, 10,15...
