for how many values of n is an < 100 ?
(1) a 50 = 500
(2) a 100 + a 10 5 = 2050
a(n) = rn < 100
Hence, n < 100/r
So, if we know the value of r, we can determine the number of values of n that satisfy the condition.

Statement 1: a(50) = 50r = 500 --> r = 10

Sufficient

Statement 2: a(100) + a(105) = 100r + 105r = 205r = 2050 --> r = 10

Sufficient

The correct answer is D.
