x and y are positive integers and 3x + 5 < x + 11, is x a prime number?

(1) The sum of x and y is even.

(2) The product of x and y is odd.

I think it requires a correction.
3x + 5 < y + 11
IMO "E"
statement(1)=> Either x and y both are even or x and y both are odd
statement(2)=> x and y both are odd
both the statements are not relevant and hence not sufficient
