In the xy-plane , line k passes through the point (1,1) and line m passes through the point (1,-1). Are lines k and m perpendicular to each other?

1> lines k and m intersect at the point (1,-1)
2> line k intersects the x-axis at the point (1,0)

Sketch a graph and plot those two points on it.

You will see that both the statements mean the same thing i.e. line k passes through (1,1) and (1,-1). For line k to pass through at (1,1) and intersect with line m at (1,-1), it HAS to intersect x-axis at the point (1,0).

However, as we have no additional information about line m, neither statement is sufficient. If line m is y=-1, the answer to the question is yes. In any other case, the answer is no.
