Hmm, I can't see how the answer can be C.
Using 2, we get x^2 -1 < 0 which implies -1 < x < 1
If x^2-1 < 0, in (1), 1-x^2 is positive and so n has to be negative.
1 and 2 combined, -1 < x < 1. So, we can't say for sure if
x is positive or negative.
Am I missing something?
