(1) Before the wage increases, Jack's hourly wage was $5.00 per hour more than Mark's.

(2) Before the wage increases, the ratio of Jack's hourly wage to Mark's hourly wage was 4 to 3.
Statement 1 provides a dollar difference. When their pay levels are increased by 6% that dollar difference also increases by 6%. So Statement 1 points to an exact difference in their new pay levels.

Sufficient.

Statement 2 provides only the ratios of the amounts they were paid, and the question provides only a percent increase. So there isn't information that points to any exact dollar amount.

Examples:

Original - 400:300 After Increase - 424:318 Difference After Increase - 106

Original - 200:150 After Increase - 212:159 Difference After Increase - 53

Insufficient.

The correct answer is A.
