Advice - Practice GMAT Test

by mdecarbo » Fri Mar 29, 2013 7:39 am
Hi,

I planned on taking the Veritas free GMAT simulator test today in it's entirety. I'm visiting family for the Easter weekend and found that I'm very distracted thinking about visiting people and plans for the weekend. After writing the essay and doing IR I decided to quit before taking the Quant & Verbal pieces. I decided to just take these when I'm back at home.

Two questions. First, is this a huge set back? I have about a month (a few days more than a month) before my exam. Second, do you suggest doing the entire test over again (Essay plus IR) or just starting at the Quant section and finishing?

Thanks!

It is not a huge thing. Really you should be building stamina, but first make sure you get through an exam, and that I mean just the Quant and Verbal sections.

The question is why did you quit?

I get home a few times a year so I thought I'd be able to take a full length test here but I'm finding that my mind is everywhere but focusing on the questions.

Not a great excuse but a reality. I want the test to be as accurate an idicator as possible.

I sat through the GMAT prep #2 last week in my apartment, scored a 690 (Q 59% V 95%) without interruption.

That was why I brought it up... Make sure you get experience with full length exams so you can sit through the real thing.

Would you recommend taking the entire test over (resetting the Veritas practice exam)? Or just go on with the Quant & Verbal sections?

Make sure you take at least 3 full exams (essays included) before you sit for the real thing.
