minute particles

Clouds are formed from the evaporation of the
oceans' water that is warmed by the sun and rises
high into the atmosphere. condensing in tiny droplets
on minute particles of dust.

(A) Clouds areformed from the evaporation of the
oceans' water that is warmed by the sun and
rises high into the atmosphere, condensing in
tiny droplets on minute particles of dust.
(8) Clouds form by the sun's warmth evaporating
the water in the oceans, which rises high into the
atmosphere, condensing in tiny droplets on
minute particles of dust.
(C) Warmed by the sun, ocean water evaporates,
rises high into the atmosphere, and condenses
in tiny droplets onminute particles of dust to
form clouds.
(Dl The water in the oceans evaporates, warmed by
the sun, rises high into the atmosphere, and
condenses in tiny droplets on minute particles of
dust, which forms clouds.
(El Ocean water, warmed by the sun, evaporates
and rises high into the atmosphere, which then
condenses in tiny droplets on minute particles of
dustto form as clouds.

i have solved above SC. my question is whether B can be eliminated on the basis that "form" is a transitive verb and B does not have any direct object - what does cloud form ?
Also B seems an incomplete sentence as, after removing modifiers, B can be reduced to - cloud form - do we call such a sentence a fragment or something else

Conclusion : Press the Thanks Button ;)

B can be eliminated based on active voice, - Clouds form --- here we mean than clouds are doing the action of forming. Obviously, passive is better as in A ( but A has some other problem) - Clouds are formed -- yes they do not do the action of forming.
B can also be eliminated based on lacking direct object ( as "form" is a transitive verb), as you mentioned. Clouds formed...what ?? X,Y Z....what !! Obviously, this is also an error.

I am not sure what you mean by run on sentence here - but if we remove the modifier

Clouds form by the sun's warmth evaporating the water in the oceans condensing in tiny droplets on minute particles of dust. - this is obviously a flawed sentence.

Hope this helps !!

i meant the same i.e. B is an incomplete construction but i am not sure whether grammatical name of such construction - clouds form - is sentence fragment

I don't think transitive verb ("form" here) should be the sole reason to eliminate B. Passive voice would have been better, but that shouldn't be the reason to eliminate B. The option B contains other obvious errors that make it wrong.

I believe Clouds form when X and Y happen is a correct construction.

For eg: The store closes at 10 p.m. is a grammatically correct sentence. Again, passive would have been better.

in your sentence, store is implied object of the verb closes. replace 'store' with same 'human noun' and you will realize the difference e.g. vinayak closes at 10p.m. - clearly, vinayak cannot be closed, we need an object that is closed by vinayak

yes,

I think - Clouds form when X and Y happen - is correct. But in B, we dont have such an adverb of condition such as here - "when X and Y happen". This adverb of condition actually changes the meaning. Obviously, you wont write -

clouds form in the sky.

But at the same time, if you refer OG-12 #84, "form" takes a passive voice even with "when...", the exact construction you are referring to.
