CR from 1000CR

Are you still reading the other newspaper in town? Did you know that the Daily Bugle is owned by an out-of-town business syndicate that couldn’t care less about the people of Gotham City? Read the Daily Clarion, the only real voice of the people of Gotham City!
Which of the following most directly refutes the argument raised in the advertisement above?
(A) Over half of the advertising revenues of the Daily Clarion come from firms whose headquarters are located outside of Gotham City.
(B) The Daily Clarion usually devotes more of its pages to out-of-town news than does the Daily Bugle.
(C) Nearly 40 percent of the readers of the Daily Clarion reside outside the limits of Gotham City.
(D) The editor-in-chief and all the other members of the editorial staff of the Daily Bugle have lived and worked in Gotham City for ten years or more.
(E) The Daily Bugle has been published in Gotham City for a longer time than has the Daily Clarion.

My pick is B

The argument is saying that Daily Clarion is the real voice, Daily Bugle is not because its owned by a out of town syndicate.

B says DC allocates more pages to out of town news than DB. If its allocating more pages to out of town news than DB, it cant be the real voice of the Gotham city/people.

A D E are out of scope

C says 40% of readers of DC are outside. Readership outside of the town can be interested in knowing about whats happening with Gotham City. Also, 60% of the DC readership is in GC. There fore DC probably the voice of GC

I guess the OA thought is that the Editor in chief and all editorial staff live in GC and will still voice the concerns of GC irrespective of what their ownership wants.

Thats what I thought when I ruled out but it sounded like a stretch to me.

Out of town news != real voice of GC

DC does more out of town news than DB. How can DC be the real voice?

To me the final conclusion was DC is the real voice and NOT DB and I attacked that part.

Guys

Thoughts??

I picked D. As the argument in the question is that Read DC as its the only real voice of the people of Gotham City!

And as The editor-in-chief and all the other members of the editorial staff of the B have lived and worked in GC for ten years or more then what they say would be the real voice of the people of GC.

for D, we have no way to know how long the other newspaper's editor etc. have been in GC in comparison, so this doesn't work just the same way as one newspapers being in print longer than the other doesn't say anything about the kinds of articles the paper publishes.

I pick B

My 4 cents here folks:Read the Daily Clarion, the only real voice of the people of Gotham City!

B.The Daily Clarion usually devotes more of its pages to out-of-town news than does the Daily Bugle. - Even if the the other 60% news were to be news related to Gotham city, It could actually not be the real Voice of Gotham city - Don know about the appropritateness of the content to people

D.The editor-in-chief and all the other members of the editorial staff of the Daily Bugle have lived and worked in Gotham City for ten years or more. - Atleast this sentence has some strengths that talks about the why the paper could be the actual Voice ... So i chose D

Nevertheless - Concers can be raised to - What if the staff lived for 10 years at Gothams city - There is no guarantee of publishing articles that is actually the peoples voice - May be the OA folks took on the the editor being sensitive to Local issues....

I think B is the best in this case
