G: The group of works exhibited in this year's Metropolitan Art Show reveals a bias in favor of photographers. Equal numbers of photographers, sculptors, and painters submitted works that met the traditional criteria for the show, yet more photographs were exhibited than either sculptures or paintings. As you know, each artist was allowed to submit work in one medium only.
H: How could there have been bias? All submitted works that met the traditional criteria-and only those works-were exhibited in the show.

16.If both G's assertions and H's assertion are true, which one of the following must also be true?
(A) More photographers than sculptors or painters submitted works to be considered for exhibition in the Metropolitan Art Show.
(B) All the works submitted for the Metropolitan Art Show met the traditional criteria for the show.
(C) The quality of photographs exhibited in the metropolitan Art Show was inferior to the quality of the sculptures or paintings exhibited.
(D) Some of the photographs submitted for the Metropolitan Art Show did not meet the traditional criteria for the show.

Incorrect : Quality of photos completely out of scope.

(D) Some of the photographs submitted for the Metropolitan Art Show did not meet the traditional criteria for the show.
Incorrect : This cannot be determined from the above stimulus.

(E) More works that met the traditional criteria for the Metropolitan Art Show were submitted by photographers than by sculptors or painters.
Correct : If equal number of photographers, sculptors and painters submitted works that met traditional criteria and if more photographs were exhibited, it means MORE photographs were submitted by photographers. This is what this answer choice points at.

Regading option 'B' the stimulus says 'Equal numbers of photographers, sculptors, and painters submitted works that met the traditional criteria for the show'

G: More number of photographs were displayed than other forms of art. Hence the art show was biased.

H: It was not biased because all the submissions that met traditional criteria were displayed.

How can we resolve the paradox without damaging the evidence cited by both parties? Only "E" asserts that there was no bias, it was just that more number of submissions by photographers met the criteria.

(E) More works that met the traditional criteria for the Metropolitan Art Show were submitted by photographers than by sculptors or painters.

Choice E is correct, and komal and mohit's reasoning is good.

(Whether or not there is a bias is a bit of a red herring in this question. We need to treat both speakers' assertions as true yet, evidently, they disagree as to whether there was a bias. However, H falls a bit short of explicity asserting that there wasn't a bias.)

G states that more photographs were exhibited than either sculptures or paintings while H states that all exhibited works satisfied the traditional criteria.

As Mohit points out, choice E is the only one that reconciles their statements wihout doing violence to their explicit assertions.

One possible point of confusion is as follows. G's statements establish a) that there were equal numbers of photographers, painters and sculptors and b) that individuals can submit works in one only one medium. But choice E states that more works were submitted by photographers than by sculptors or painters. This isn't a contradiction: the stimulus never established that individuals are limited to only submitting one work--just one kind of work. So, each photographer could have submitted multiple photographs.

Let's look at Choice B since some were tempted by it. Choice B could be false. H states: "All submitted works that met the traditional criteria-and only those works-were exhibited in the show." This means that all works that ended up getting exhibited met the traditional crtiteria. But it doesn't mean that all works submitted for exhibition met these criteria(in fact, it implies the opposite).

this is a question from 60-day GMAT QUESTIONS PROGRAM. I get all the CR questions from this program right, but spend 4 minutes per questions.

Please, help me how I can reduce the times?

the 60 day gmat study guide doesnt mail any questions . It just mails you the routine for that respective day
