George's personal diary and album formed the basis for his book about the places he had visited.

(A) the basis for his book about the places he had visited.

(B) the basis for his book regarding the places he had visited.

(C) the basis of his book about the places he visited.

(D) the basis of his book about the places which he had visited.

(E) the basis of his book about the places he had visited.

OA IS C WHY IS E INCORRRECT? i thought perfect tense is needed here since personal dairy 'formed"
(past tense) the basis of his book about places he HAD visited (place visits were followed by personal dairy) .. two past events are there hence HAD needs to be used.

let me know where i have gone wrong.

I think E is better than C as the past perfect tense clearly identifies that the work of visit was done before the book

A/B - basis for - wrong idiom
D - which - redundant
E - uses past perfect.

IMO C.

As far as I know past perfect tenses should be used only when you are not sure of the order of events. Here it is very clear that diary is written only after George visited the places so we are clear with the order of events and hence simple past is suffice. I am not very sure about this. Maybe some experts would clarify it. Hope this helps !!
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
