Hello All

by srisanj4 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 8:16 pm
This morning I wrote my exam; scored very low - 510. Until 510 showed up on screen I was not expecting the score to be that. I still think I did better. I know I am making fool of myself. But it is not helping me.

I preped for more than 6 months - seriously for last few weeks. I have finished OG-11, Green, Purple, MGMAT SC, Kaplan study guide, Kaplan CATs, MGMAT CATs, paper tests. My highest score has been 680 during my prep exams.

I am revising my effort. Any advise will help.

I am repeating what some of the experts have already said and I am repeating.
Some thing happened there which made u get a low score. Here are some questions I ask if I were u.

1. Have I understood every math concept contained in OG11 /OG Q books?
2. can I solve every/any problem from that book if I see it again, under
2mins?
3. Have I understood the concept or "takeaway" of each problem. Here is one suggestion for ur next effort.
a) For every Math problem on OGs write down the key concept that is being tested, the approach, alternate approach if possible. U can search this forum for alternate approaches. BTG is a gold mine of problems and elegent solutions.

b) How can I recognize this concept/takeaway in a new problem. This is important, coz, u will never the OG problem on a real GMAT. There could be similar ones. So the tactic is to look at a new problem and put it in the "known" bucket so that u can use the techniques that u know.

4. Replay the entire exam day from ur mind to figure out what went wrong.
5. Search I Beat the Gmat subforum for posts from Stacey Koprince, Ian stewart, Stuart kovinsky for strategies.

6. Apply the above to Verbal.
7. Also look at the test scores on ur practise tests.. and analyse

HT Helps.

Sorry maan and better luck next time.

You are very exhausted right now. Enjoy the new year's eve and stay away from GMAT for at least couple of weeks to recover!

And please do not post math questions in "I just beat the Gmat" section.
