Below sentence is from MHSC-2003ed.

Can anyone pls tell me why the bold part is not ||?

The flower bouquet was the husband's giving of love to his wife.

and how it is || in below sentence?

The flower bouquet was the husband's loving gift to his wife.

In the former, one is a noun while other is a participle

In the later, both are nouns

flower bouquet = gift (husband's loving etc are adjectives)
