Opinion on RC

by venmic » Tue Jun 14, 2011 6:58 pm
I would appreciate it if some of you could take the time to give me an opinion on the below

For the RC passages

this is the time length

Read RC : 5 min - 5.5 mins

Each question : 1 min - 1.5 max

total time for say 4 questions 10 minutes - 12 minutes

i.e on an average 10 -11 minutes

Can anyone suggest is that the average or bad

Appreciate it

10 - 12 minutes is a little on the long side.

Are you able to complete the other verbal questions quickly and give yourself lots of time for RC questions? If so, then your RC times might be okay.

I suggest that you take a practice GMATPrep test and see if your RC times are negatively impacting your verbal score. If so, you might need to consider other strategies.

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Brent

Thankyou for taking the time to reply Brent

Can you please let me know what is the best timing that one should follow

I mean ho wmany minutes for an RC with 4 minutes

Can you split it as

1) Reading Passage -
2) Answer each question

Thanks again

This is all very approximate, but for a 4-question RC passage, I think you should spend about 4 minutes reading and summarizing the passage, and 3 to 4 minutes answering questions.

However, if you can answer SC and/or CR question quickly, this will allow you to free up additional time for RC questions.

Brent
