stuck at 500 in Pratice

by kingstud74 » Sun Jul 11, 2010 7:10 am
I have been studying about 10 hours a week for the last 2-3 weeks. I am taking a practice test each weekend to gauge what I need to be working on for the next week. After the first week, my verbal was very low, in the low 21, and math was a 25. So i focused on English for the next week, my score came up to 31, but my math was still low, a 23, so I focused on math for the next week, and this week I scored a 29 on both sections, each time my score has been a 500. I cant seem to get above that. what do I need to be doing differently to bring this up?

I don't need to blow the test out of the water, I just need to be in the 550-600 range. I have a little less then a month until test day.

Right now I am using the 11th edition office guide, Cracking the Gmat (Princeton) and the FDP Manhattan guide.

Despite the fact that your test score was around 500 twice I think you're making progress. Your verbal score only went down 2 points on the last test while your math went up quite a bit. Not always having an increase in your score happens fairly frequently. What is important is to learn from your mistakes, and the areas that gave you difficulty on the tests.

As for books, I'd buy the Manhattan SC. You can make a lot of progress on the verbal section if you go through that book a couple times. You might want to try some of the other Manhattan books as well
