Profile Help

by ColumbiaHopeful18 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 10:31 am
Really appreciate your feedback on my profile - I know my GMAT is on the low side.

GMAT - 690
Split was 67% math and 92% verbal

I know my math score was low, however I graduated top 3 in my undergrad business program with a degree in finance. Top 10 undergrad business program and won the award for top finance student.

Strong ECs from college - was the executive programmer for television station and the chair of honor council

after college i worked at a bulge bracket in banking for 2 years and have worked in a financial start up for the last 6 months

What do you think my chances for a top MBA are?

Thank you!

Dear ColumbiaHopeful18,

Your GMAT is not on the low side; it is actually a strong score. Nevertheless, it will be slightly below average for a top 10 program. However, you do have other evidence of your academic ability with your college transcript and work experience. Thus I would say you do have a chance at some top programs if you submit a strong set of essays and recommendations making a compelling case for your admission. It will also be important for you to distinguish yourself from similar applicants.

Good luck,
Lisa
