GMAT Prep

by gloubiboulga » Wed Jan 03, 2007 8:50 am
Hi everyone,

I just did my first exam with GMAT Prep this morning and got 700 (Q48 V38). However I have a big doubt on the accuracy of this score since I made 18 errors in Quant (10 at the end because i did not managed my time very well) and 15 errors in Verbal.

Can it be possible to score 700 with so many errors, or is there a bug in the program?

Thank you in advance for your comments! And thank you eric for this very usefull website!

Hi gloubiboulga:

GMATPrep is definitely the best indicator of your actual GMAT performance, period. No other practice test on the market simulates the GMAT as well.

It is definitely possible to score a 700 with many errors--not every question that appears on the GMAT is scored towards your final score; a sizable portion of questions (I don't know how many specifically) are earmarked as "experimental" questions, in which answering them correctly or not correctly has no bearing on your final score.

700 may still be your true baseline. I would take a few more practice tests to guage how you are scoring (Princeton Review and Kaplan tests recommended). Save the second GMATPrep test for as your last practice test at the end of your studies.

Best of luck!

Thank you very much for all your answers. Indeed, I hope that I will crack the Quant since I am french and the verbal is quite difficult for non-native english!

Good luck to everyone!
