Taking Class/es to Boost Low GPA

by ChrisFic » Mon May 14, 2012 7:10 am
Hey all,

I was wondering if someone had any good advice for me. So I am currently about to take the GMAT and afterwards I begin taking a class (or two) plus some volunteer work before I apply to B-School. My goal is to be accepted in any Top-10 program. I only had a 3.14 GPA in undergrad and wanted to take a class or two to help boost that. My question is, should I take more than 1 class? Should my mindset when taking these classes be A or bust? Just trying to judge how much and in what way these classes will impact my application.

I have been accepted into a Harvard Graduate summer course and am currently waitlisted for a Business Rhetoric course (undergrad credit). It would be a lot of time and effort if I took both courses at once coupled with work. What do you think?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Chris,

Start with one class, make it quantitatively rigorous and yes take it for a grade and aim to get an A- or better. I would also suggest a physical class versus a purely virtual offering.

Good luck!
