Relatives who graduated

by RNDMonkey » Thu Feb 10, 2011 8:30 pm
Hello,

I had a question about whether having a relative who received an MBA from the school helps at all in terms of me being accepted? One of my parents recently graduated from with an MBA from Kellogg. He hasn't donated tons of money to the school or anything like that, just someone who earned an MBA in the past few years. Kellogg is my top choice and I would love to have any advantage possible in getting admitted.

Thanks,

Hi RNDMonkey,

Thanks for posting. MBA programs normally ask about any family members, so you would want to note your parent on your Kellogg application. Whether or not that helps your application is hard to say. Most of the time, these connections don't have much bearing beyond the admissions committee assuming that you have a good understanding of the program based on your relationship with your parent.

I hope this was of help. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Best,
