Can somebody help me with this problem?

An apple cost $0.15 each. Jamie bought $3.50 worth of apple. If $5 worth of apple cost minimum $0.50 and maximum $0.60. What is the maximum/minimum value of the apple Jamie bought?

I am having difficulty solving problems that asks to find a maximum and/or a minimum value. I would really appreciate somebody's help.

I can't parse this at all.

If Jamie spent $3.50 on apples and each apple cost $.15, then 23 apples cost $3.45...what about the extra 5 cents?

If he spent $5.00 and the minimum cost was $.50, then he could have bought at most 10 apples. None of the other possible values up to and including $.60 provide an integer value for the number of apples.

The question itself asks about the minimum and maximum value of the apples purchased, but I'm not quite sure what they're asking for.

Can you clarify?
