Are Alligation and Mixture problems part of GMAT Quant ?

Hey All

I'm not able to find out if Alligation and Mixture quesitons are part of GMAT Quant?

Mostly these questions are based on this formula:

Quantity of Cheaper element in the Mixture/ Quantity of Dearer element in the Mixture =
Cost Price of Dearer - Mean Price (Mixture cost price)/ Mean Price - Cost Price of Cheaper

Kindly confirm.

Yes these types of questions are part of GMAT quant. The best way to solve these is to draw boxes with the quantities of each mixture to illustrate the problem. For example, if 100ml of drink A containing 5% alcohol is mixed with 200ml of drink B containing 10% alcohol and you want to find the final alcohol %:


Drink A: Alc. % = 5. Alc amount = 5ml. Drink B: Alc. amount = 20ml.

Final drink = 300ml. Alc amount = 25ml. Alc. % = 25/300 = 1/12 = 8.33%.
