For eg
A. We test drove a car having engine trouble
B. We test drove a car that had engine trouble
Why B is considered to be a better construction

Every test has some preferences: In case of GMAT, it prefers construction B. A is almost always considered wrong is what I have read in MGMAT SC book, no reason was provided though. For more details you can refer the MGMAT SC book.
