Scored 700 (42Q, 44V) retake to improve quant?

Hello Experts,

I took the GMAT yesterday and scored a 700 but I'm worried about my quant score. On my mock cats I always scored in the 44-47 range in quant, but during the test I managed my time poorly on the quant section. I'm worried my relatively low quant score may negatively affect my admission chances at top 15 B schools.

27 year old male, 3.7 GPA, 4 years work experience in Healthcare IT consulting.

Should I retake the test or am I in a good position to be admitted to top schools with my 700 score?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi rwhyte,

First off, a 700 is a fantastic score, so congrats. The short answer to your question about retesting is probably a "no, you shouldn't retest."

The longer answer is "it depends on what school/program you really want to attend." For example, if you want to go into finance, the Q42 might be a red flag. I'd suggest that you define exactly what you want out of your MBA and then speak with an Admissions Consultant for the schools that you're interested in.

My suspicion is that you're good to go. Make sure to put the proper effort into the other parts of your application and apply to any school you'd like.
