Can't grasp SC. Need help ASAP

by layiwolo » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:16 am
Hello there,

I've got my GMAT on 1st March however when I do practice tests or questions in the OG I score <50% in SC section but >90% in the other two sections.

I have only one more day dedicated to verbal as I need to start my maths revision.

Can anyone please help me?

Thank you

Hi layiwolo,

I'm not quite sure how you've been prepping until now, but let's assume you've only been going through the OG.

The truth is the OG makes for great practice but lousy learning. GMAC does not give the most straightforward
explanations and does almost zilch to inculcate grammar fundamentals, in the case of Sentence Correction.

What you need to do is get the MGMAT Sentence Correction study guide. Integrate this into your math routine
and I promise that once you understand grammar fundamentals you will be able to score much higher than
50%

Part of the reason for your score improvement will not just be your understanding of the basics - you will be
able to quickly hone in on the answer by noticing 3:2 splits and/or other common errors. None of this, however,
is elucidated in the OG.

Don't hesitate to ask any other questions, and I wish you the best of luck!

If you have only one more day for verbal, then you can read the full book of MGMAT SC at one go taking notes for shortcuts, important points, strategy as well. You can finish off atleast 3 chapters in a day along with OG problems.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
