Hi,

for the essay "Which recent development, world event or book has most influenced your thinking and why?"

I'm planning to write about a book on Spirituality which influenced me. It's a book (available only through my organization) written by my Guru, whom I follow regularly.

The influences I'm planning to write are:

How important it is to "realize the self"
Ability to regulate thoughts
Opportunities to travel and learn new things
Circle of Influence Vs Circle of Concern (My Guru also told this in a different way)
Importance of work-life balance

All these in my opinion are important in business, however, I'm not clear how adcom would see it. Please let me know if these points are appropriate for the response expected by Said.

Thanks in adv.
RG.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. The main concern I have about using Spirituality as your topic is that you don't know the views of your reader. Your reader could hold very different religious or spiritual view or may not share the same views as you. Should you choose to select this book, I caution you to avoid any specific references to spirituality in order to avoid conflicting opinions with your reader. This seems like it could indeed be a unique topic if the essay is crafted correctly.

Best,

Stacey
