Hello everyone,
I just thought I'd get a second (or third or fourth) opinion on which schools I should target for either a part time (next year) or a full time MBA (3+ yrs):
The Basics
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Nationality: Turkish/American
Disabled - I lost my leg in a bus accident about 14 years ago. I think it was a significant event in my life and I think it has merit to discuss how I overcame this handicap in an app essay
Academics
GMAT: 750, 97% Verbal, 89% Math, AWA: 6.0
College: University of Texas at Austin
Degree: Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
Minor: Business Administration
Overall GPA: 3.13/4.00, Upper Division (Last 2 yrs) : 3.51/4.00
Extracurriculars (College)
President - Engineering Fraternity
Member of Various Engineering Organizations
Member of MENSA
Co-Op at a Large telecommunications company
Extracurriculars (Professional Life)
Vice President - Toast Masters
Big Brother - Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Took two additional college courses post graduation (Adv calculus and macroeconomics) and got As in both
Career
Working for a medium sized engineering corporation
Promoted from an applications engineering position after a year and a half
Managed a small group of engineers during my tenure
Currently a district sales manager, responsible for a territory with revenues of over $4M
Post graduation total experience: 3 years
Goals
To start my own non-profit helping disadvantaged youth receive on-the-job training
Target Schools
1) Harvard
2) University of Chicago
3) Columbia University
4) London School of Business
5) University of Virginia
6) University of Texas at Austin
Not sure how much of this is relevant, but I thought its useful for the evaluation. I'd like to specialize in non-profit, but I wouldn't mind doing marketing either for the short term.
I know Harvard and maybe Chicago are probably long shots.. my other thought is maybe going to Berkeley on a part time basis. I live in silicon valley so going to Berkeley part time wouldn't be a problem at all..
Do you think I have a shot at these schools? What could I do to improve my chances?
Thank you!
