nasty speed/distance problem...

by smallsorrow » Sun Oct 12, 2008 8:59 am
... does anyone know how to solve this quickly??

A boat traveld upstream a distance of 90 miles averaging a sped of (v-3)mph, then it traveled the same distance downstream at (v+3) mph.
If upstream took 0.5 hours longer than downstream, how long did the boat ravel downstream... ?
A)2.5
B)2.4
C)2.3
D)2.2
E)2.1

Please explain in detail.... thanks
