While solving this question, you should pay attention to parallelism and Subject Verb Agreement.

The correct answer is c.

When using "less" as a comparison, it always requires "than"; we can eliminate B and D easily.

E can be eliminated for awkward and wordy phrasing: "the beauty that is natural..."

A says "...beauty...are...", which is an agreement error.

C says "beauty...is...", which works, and uses "as incredible as" to correctly imply equality.

I wasn't able to spot the subject of this sentence and ended up marking A. Please help how to identify subject in such complex inverted sentences.

This q is a type of inverted sentence type.....You shld read the original sentence once again.

No less incredible than the natural beauty of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs are the remarkable diversity of the local fauna and flora in Costa Rica, a country less than 20,000 square miles in area.
Here we are concerned only with the underlined sentence. now to find the main subject and main verb: Simplify the sentence: "No less incredible than the natural beauty of ......" from this sentence you can identify the subject, becoz the main verb is the "are"...the main subject shld be plural to agree....
from the underlined sentence, the main subject is beauty if you eliminate all the unneccessary words.

But beauty is singular and doesnt matches.....Also the sentence meaning logically not ok
Now move on to the non - underlined CORRECT sentence section to get more clue. It starts with the "remarkable diversity" and leave the other stuff.

Now in your mind try to understand the sentence and try like this
"the remarkable diversity ..... is (main verb) no less credible than the natural beauty.......DOES IT MAKES SENSE NOW? yes
search for this kind of sentence construction in the choices and only C matches this criteria

Other way is finding errors in the all the sentences so as to find out the answer:
A - SV agreement error "are" does not agree with "remarkable diversity"
B - less than is the correct idiom.....not "less...as"
C - no error, but wait lets complete all
D - less than is the correct idiom.....not "less...as"
E - wordy sentence "The beauty that is natural ".....Can be written as "natural beauty"

No less incredible than the natural beauty of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs are the remarkable diversity of the local fauna and flora in Costa Rica, a country less than 20,000 square miles in area.

(A) No less incredible than the natural beauty of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs are

(B) No less incredible as the natural beauty that is of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs are

(C) The natural beauty of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs is as incredible as

(D) No less incredible as the natural beauty that is of the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs is

(E) The beauty that is natural to the volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal reefs are no less incredible than

Two big giveaways are 1. a sentence starting with a prepositional phrase ("from the ashes emerged a phoenix") or a comparison ("no less incredible than his GMAT score was Dave's devotion to charity work").
