IMO C:
The army .... is more than 2000 years old and took 700000 artisans more than 36 year to complete.
Since army is singular, A is wrong, it in B though correct, distorts the parallelism, see abobe, the army is..and tokk...it?
E is again using them so wrong. D is wrong as it breaks required construction with the army as Subject

I would like to have a clear understanding on the below bolded portion
...the army of terra-cotta warriors created to protect QSH,China's first emperor, in his afterlife is more than 2000 years old...
As per my understanding,
China's first emperor = appositive = this is okay with me
but,
created to protect QSH in his afterlife = is this a modifier? what sort of modifier is this?

Rivaling the pyramids of Egypt or even the ancient cities of the Maya as an achievement, the army of terra-cotta warriors created to protect Qin Shi Huang,
China's first emperor
, in his afterlife IS more than 2,000 years old and TOOK 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete.
What's the OA?
Edit: the OA is
"C"
-> https://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/gmatprep-t6880.html

A parallel example, made more brief:
My commute is two miles long and took me half an hour this morning. The parallelism is in the verbs, as MAAJ pointed out!
