for parallelism rule to be maintained, "not..by" should be coupled with "but.. by"
(A) not caused by stress, alcohol, or rich foods, but
parallelism error
(8) not caused by stress, alcohol, or rich foods, but are by
parallelism error.. presence of "are"
(C) caused not by stress, alcohol, or rich foods, but by
seems ok
(D) caused not by stress, alcohol, and rich foods, but
and is wrong. the items in the list should be seperated by or becuase they are independent.
(E) caused not by stress, alcohol, and rich foods, but are by
same as D

--> Correct Answer is C

Nt X but Y .. is the correct idiom here.

not by ... but by.. is correct here.

are caused ( not by..... but by)

Hence but are by is wrong here.

The question is totally Parallelism issue. Here the correct answer is C. But, my question is: WHY not B. B makes parallelism to me!
B. NOT (tag)+CAUSED (verb)+by+something....................BUT (tag)+ARE (verb)+by+Something
Indicate parallelism to each other.
Thanks...
